Apparalang Cliff in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi

This sturdy cliff between 12 to 20 meters high is certainly the main attraction of Apparalang.

Different from the beaches in general, here the beauty of the beach is presented together with towering cliffs, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere for visitors. To arrive at the cliff, tourists have been equipped with a special path to walk. In the local language, 'appa' means tip, while 'larang' means deep or steep. Appalarang means steep end. No wonder, because this beach is indeed fortified by magnificent rock formations from the north to the south end.

Thanks to this unique landscape, cliff jumping is a favorite activity for tourists here. Those with high courage can try jumping from the ladder provided at the top of the cliff, and then darting into the waters below. Those who are not tired of jumping can go to the top again for cliff jumping. While those who want to relax in the waters can snorkel to see the beauty of the underwater. Thanks to the clear waters, the visibility here is good enough to enjoy the beautiful marine park. However, tourists must remain vigilant when playing in the water here, especially when the tide is high. Usually, some officials will tell you whether the waters are safe for freefall or swimming.

Apparalang Cliff in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi

Another activity you can do here is photo hunting. The management has prepared a wooden bridge that connects several rocks, in addition to a wooden platform for photo spots. The platform is also often used as a fishing spot.

Apparalang Cliff is located in Ara Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. To get to this tour from Makassar starts with heading to Bulukumba city as far as 185 km. Then from Bulukumba City to Ara Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency for 37.5 km.

From Bulukumba City follow the Bira Bulukumba Axis Road towards Tanah Lemo. About 26 kilometers from the Bulukumba Regent's Office, at Tanah Lemo, turn left onto a smaller road. Follow the road until the road ends at a T-junction, and turn right. About 1 kilometer note the left, there will be a gate with Apparalang written on it. From the gate to Apparalang Beach is about 2.5 kilometers. The road is very small, so you need to be careful if you pass a car from the front.
