The 2.5-hectare mosque stands on 9.9 hectares of land, its construction costing 12.4 billion rupiah of old money and 18.3 billion rupiah of new money. The mosque has 4,400 piles, 377 tons of stainless steel, and 21,500 meters of road construction. Concrete construction installed 78,060 cubic meters, marble 93,400 square meters, and 11,400 square meters of ceramic tiles.
Istiqlal Mosque has charm because of its beauty and muruah. Soekarno's wish that Istiqlal become a symbol of tolerance came true. The mosque's location next to the Jakarta Cathedral Church is an attraction for the international community. Therefore, Istiqlal is often one of the places visited by international leaders while in Indonesia.
