For example, one of the most famous beautiful lakes in Kalimantan is Labuan Cermin Lake in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. Labuan Cermin Lake is a tourist attraction that attracts many tourists because of its underwater paradise. You can enjoy the specialness of this tourist spot because at the top of the lake is fresh water at the bottom while at the bottom of the lake is salt water, what's unique is that these two waters do not mix. For information, the phenomenon of these two flavors is nicknamed Meromictic Lake, which is a lake whose layers of water do not mix with each other.

There are aquatic animals that can live in the salt water and fresh water in this lake. Because there are two different layers of water, salt water at the bottom, and fresh water at the top, the upper part contains freshwater fish, and if you want to see turtles and coral reefs, you can dive to the bottom of the lake which is filled with seawater.

This uniqueness makes Labuan Cermin nature tourism dubbed the miracle of 2 tastes. This can happen because the geography of this lake is near the coast, causing such a natural phenomenon. The lake water often looks as clear as glass with enchanting surrounding scenery. The clarity of the lake can also reflect shadows like a mirror so that the name is also the background of the lake's name.

Location and Route to Labuan Cermin Lake


Labuan Cermin is located in the Biduk-Biduk area, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. Although the place is quite far from the city, there are signs at every turn of the road to Labuan Cermin. Moreover, now you can use Google Maps which is more practical and easier. Although the distance traveled is quite far, the fatigue will be paid off by the beauty and naturalness of this tourist destination.

Air travel is more recommended to cover this trip because it shortens the time. Head to Berau then transit first in Balikpapan. Next, choose a direct connecting flight so you don't have to worry about your luggage at Sepinggan Airport. Arriving at Kalimaru Berau Airport, you can look for a rental car to continue your trip to Biduk-Biduk.

Getting to Biduk takes 5-6 hours, or up to 7 hours if you use a travel service.
