Batu Layar Tomb is in the Senggigi area, West Lombok, NTB, not far from Senggigi Beach. The tomb is the resting place of a propagator of Islam, believed to be named Sheikh Sayid. This tomb is also sacred by the people of Lombok.

Batu Layar Tomb is usually crowded with pilgrims from various regions in Lombok during weekends, and during Islamic holidays such as Eid Topat and after Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. In addition, in Lombok in general there is a unique tradition called Lebaran Topat. The tradition is still carried out by the Sasak Tribe in the week after Eid al-Fitr (Syawalan). So, after Eid al-Fitr, they will fast again for 6 days, after which they will celebrate Eid for the second time, namely Lebaran Topat.

This tradition is carried out by visiting sacred places while bringing provisions called Dulang Pesaji such as ketupat, chicken opor, plecing kale, and others. Some go to the beach, ancestral graves, to the graves of famous figures such as the Batu Layar Sacred Tomb. The pilgrims start the journey by taking water from a well (called Lingkok Belek/Lingkok Mas), then walk to the tomb to pray according to their respective desires. The water brought from the well is used to wash the face in the tomb area. After finishing the procession at the tomb, they head to the beach for a family vacation.

Not only the people of Lombok who come here, but also those from outside Lombok often come here. Because Batu Layar Cemetery is one of the religious tourist destinations in Lombok. You want to visit the Tomb of Batu Layar. You can come by private car to West Lombok. The location of the stone screen tomb is about 9 km from the north of Mataram city.

Sheikh Sayid is one of the propagators of Islam on Lombok Island who came from Baghdad, Iraq. After spreading Islam, the sheikh wanted to return to his country. He went to the beach in the Batu Layar area and sat on a rock. Then, there was heavy rain accompanied by lightning and suddenly Sheikh Sayid disappeared.

However, there are some stories that say that what is buried in the Batu Layar Tomb is not the body of Sheikh Sayid, but only some of his belongings.
