Sulamadaha Beach, a Beautiful Oasis on the Edge of Ternate Island

A stretch of blackish sand in the shape of the letter U stretches across the panoramic view of the distant Hiri Island on the other side. The waves of the sea compete to create this beautiful beach. A beautiful oasis on the outskirts of Ternate that continues to grow and spread its wings. The coastal wind blows soothingly on the hot sun of North Maluku. Birdsong sounded low among the trees that shaded my presence at that time on Sulamadaha Beach.

Sulamadaha Beach, a Beautiful Oasis on the Edge of Ternate Island

Sulamadaha is the most famous beach in Ternate. Not only in Indonesia but this beach is also known by foreigners. Many foreign tourists visit Sulamadaha, and they find it hard to forget the charm of this beautiful beach. Sulamadaha Beach is one of the most important tourism assets of Ternate, North Maluku.

The beauty of Sulamadaha Beach can be proven from the first time you enter the area. Motorized vehicles can park in one place and visitors have to walk a little to the beach area. First entering, visitors will be greeted by many kiosks selling food and drinks for relaxing on the beach. Rows of chairs with cheerful colors seem to call visitors to sit on them while looking at the beautiful Sulamadaha Beach yard. The beach is dominated by black sand and surrounding coral reefs, but everything has been neatly organized and has become a special charm for Sulamadaha.

Following the cliffs surrounding the beach, visitors will find a path that leads to another beautiful spot. After walking for about 10 minutes, they will arrive at a secret lagoon called Saomadaha, a small bay with crystal-clear water. It's like a painting, with colored coral clearly visible from the surface of the water without the need to dive. However, swimming in Saomadaha maximizes the experience, with the cool water and calm atmosphere creating the perfect blend to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings.

The situation on weekdays will certainly not be as busy as on holidays. The stalls lining the bay are not all open. There are not too many visitors, but this is actually more beneficial because you can enjoy the beauty of Sulamadaha Beach in tranquility. The dry and hot air of Ternate is not felt at all when in the Saomadaha section. This place is truly like a beautiful oasis on the outskirts of Ternate.

During holidays and weekends, Ternate residents usually use Sulamadaha Beach as a recreational area. They usually swim, ride boats, relax, and even do water sports activities such as snorkeling or banana boating in this place. All are managed by local residents who get income from the recreational object of Sulamadaha Beach. Food stalls and beach management are done independently by local residents, but the operations are still under the supervision of the Ternate local government.

Sulamadaha Beach is located in Sulamadaha Village. Visitors can reach this place within 30 minutes from Ternate city center by motorized vehicle. Sulamadaha Beach is Ternate's flagship tourist attraction and continues to be promoted both by the government and local residents to foreign countries. It seems that the local people have realized how beautiful the panorama of the beach is in their residence. Now, it's just a matter of how the government suggests this tourist attraction be more developed and provide benefits for the people living around it as well as for regional income.
