Tourism in Kulonprogo continues to innovate, not a few have been circulating on Instagram. For example, Kedung Pedut Waterfall, Kalibiru, Nglinggo Tea Plantation, to the Mudal River. For those of you who like to do various exciting activities, the Mudal River is recommended.

The Origin of the Mudal River

The Mudal River is actually a spring that flows from the depths of a cave. The water that comes out is quite abundant and clear so that it can meet the needs of local residents throughout the year. The community uses pipes to channel the water to their homes.

The name "mudal" itself is not without reason. In Javanese, mudal means "to come out". The name was given because this spring continues to flow throughout the year. Even in the dry dry season. The difference is, the water discharge is only smaller than usual.

Initially, it was just an unkempt spring, full of bushes. Then the local residents took the initiative to clean it and take good care of it. So the spring slowly turned into a tourist destination.

The spring that flows throughout the year gradually became the Mudal River which is widely known today. The flow of water also passes through several waterfalls and lower areas, making the flow longer and deeper. Now, the Mudal River stretches 600 meters. While its depth itself starts from 1-2 meters.

Mudal River Ecotourism

Initially, the Mudal River tourism was managed simply by the local community. However, over time and receiving attention from the community, the environment around the Mudal River was improved and added with various facilities.
